Instagram your life

Instagram your life

I’m sure you’ve all used Instgram, or that you know what it is; if not, where have you been hiding? I only joke. For those that don’t know Instagram is a Smartphone application that allows users to change the formating of their photos using certain ‘Instagram filters’.

Today, sees the launch of the Instagrille application that allows you to use Instagram on your Windows PC. Mr Mac has had it months before, but hey, that’s ok!

I’ll admit to being an Instagram-addict, so I jumped at the chance of downloading the software. However, one major problem is that you can’t actually upload images from your computer. That all could be down to the fact that they’d need to implement the filter process and such, but who knows.

I like how the interface is clear and you can see what photos people on your ‘feed’ have posted. As you can see from the photo above, the photos are neatly arranged and it’s easy to use.

You can download Instagrille from Pokki the developer site. I’m not entirely sure how you can add people, but my username is: strawberryglow if you’d like to see my random photos.

Just a little change..

Just a little change..

I’ve decided that I want to make this blog different to its previous intent. I had visions of it being related to books and with me posting lots of book reviews, but unfortunately (through no fault but my own) this hasn’t happened. In result, this blog is now aimed at all areas of my world. I will therefore post entries relating to my life, craft, fashion and other such things that I find interesting.

I’m hoping that most of you will still return as I will continue to post book reviews. However, if you were visiting purely for the book reviews, thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoyed your stay.

Let’s hope the new direction will have positive results!

Suitably Wicked…

Suitably Wicked…

Firstly, I apologise for my negligence. As mentioned in a previous post I haven’t finished a book that would warrant a review. I need to improve filler posts on the site, which will keep you all coming back! However, in my defence I couldn’t bring myself to finish ‘Wicked’ as it just did not spark my imagination as much as I thought it would.

Wicked

Format:
Paperback
Pages: 512
Publisher: Headline Review

An astonishingly rich re-creation of the land of Oz, this book retells the story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, who wasn’t so wicked after all. Taking readers past the yellow brick road and into a phantasmagoric world rich with imagination and allegory, Gregory Maguire just might change the reputation of one of the most sinister characters in literature.

Rating: 1/5

My rating is based on what I have read and that amounts to approximately 100 pages. I don’t think it warrants a ‘read’ status, but I’ll suitably edit this review if I decide to continue the book again.

Also, Please Note: some content in my review may not be suitable for younger readers, or those that do not like sexual references.

Disappointment

Disappointment

I’m currently reading two books ‘Friday Nights’ and ‘Wicked’ and unfortunately both are yet to strike any excitement.

I think it may be time to put both back on the shelf and begin another.

It seemed like I hadn’t posted for ages and I didn’t want to leave a large lapse when I am in fact trying to read.

I’m more annoyed because it appeared that Wicked would be a really good book, yet here I am trying to find a positive.

Have you have ever had trouble reading something you thought would be amazing?

The Understudy – David Nicholls

Format: Paperback
Pages: 406
Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton

Stephen C McQueen (not that Steve McQueen) has always wanted to be an actor; always strived to be on the big stage, sadly, being ‘The Understudy’ is as close as he’ll get to stardom.

Stephen finds himself in the shadow of Josh Harper – a gorgeous and confident man that appears to have everything. Seeing Josh preform every night as the leading man takes his toll on Stephen, which results in a few comical moments involving a Squirrel costume, a Storm Trooper helmet and a missing BAFTA award.

All Stephen wants in life is the big break and not the look of disappointment he seems to get more than often.
